THE FLIGHT ACADEMY led by Captain Nicholas Navarro, made quick work of the competition by winning the Varsity Long Jump with 17ft. 11.5 inches. Also in the Long Jump Sophomore David Tarver jumped well placing 2nd with a jump of 16 ft. 9.5 inches. Freshman Ariel Pastoriza placed 2nd jumping 16ft. 3.5 inches, and Marcus Smith placed 4th jumping 15ft. 1 inch.
Welcome Back Alton Spencer. Our Varsity Javelin Thrower made his Spring debut placing 2nd with a throw of 114ft. 1 inch. Sophomores Brenden Casey and Jerry Toussaint placed 2nd and 3rd with throws of 107ft. 9 inches, and 86ft 10 inches. The Sophomores also placed in the Discus. Toussaint placed 2nd throwing 95 ft.7 inches and Casey placed 4th with a throw of 72ft 10 inches.
The Flying Bricks left nothing but destruction in their wake. In the Javelin Caesar Vargas placed 1st throwing 111ft 10 inches; Israel Vasquez placed 2nd throwing 106ft. 7 inches, and Ryan Roland placed third throwing 67ft 4 inches. In the Discus, Kellen Smith placed 1st throwing 90ft. 5 inches; Israel Vasquez placed 2nd throwing 87ft 3 inches; Jude Monestine placed 3rd throwing 84ft. and Elton Aliaj placed 4th throwing 80 ft. In the Shot Put, Caesar Vargas came back to place 1st throwing 44ft. 4 inches; Kellen Smith placed 3rd throwing 42ft. 8 inches; Tommy Angeles placed 4th throwing 39ft 9 inches, and Jude Monestine placed 5th throwing 38ft. 9 inches.
In the Running Events Varsity runners Nicholas Navarro and Brian Inzeo needed a little help from Sophomore Sean Baum and Freshman Corey Simmons to place 4th in the Varsity 800 meter relay. Nicholas Navarro ran a personal best of 23.4 seconds for the 200 split. Sophomore Andrew Aponte placed 2nd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.4 seconds. The Freshman (The High Milers) Patrick Augustine, Angel Alsina, Carlos Rivera, and Corey Simmons placed 1st in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 4:01.1 sec. Individually Patrick Augustine placed 1st running a time of 57.1 seconds; Angel Alsina placed 3rd in the 800 meter running 2:24.6 seconds; Carlos Rivera placed 4th running 2:28.3 and Rashaad Reynolds placed 5th running 2:39.7 seconds. In the 1600 meter run Anthony DiGiovanni ran a time of 5:35 and Luis Perez ran a time of 5:43. La Salle left the Fordham Invitational with a record 33 medals. Once again La Salle is the school to beat .
